Bennie Joe Highsmith, Sr. age 80, passed into Glory at 2:20 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2021. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 48 years, Karen Jean Highsmith (Olson), and two children, Catherine Marie, and Bennie Joe, Jr. (Rose Salinas).

Bennie loved the Lord with all of his heart, soul, mind, and strength. He was a founding member of Faith Assembly Church of Montgomery; and it was his home church for 30+ years, which is pastored by Michael Hefner, Assistant Pastor Emmanuel Rojas, and Associate Minister Matthew Savage.

Earlier in his years, he had dedicated his life to the Lord at the Benton Street Apostolic Church, which was pastored by Reverend Jesse Peterman, and where he was also baptized.

He was born to Jefferson Benjamin Highsmith and Edna Mae Highsmith (Wortham) on 03/25/1941 in Washington County Texas. He retired from CATERPILLAR after 30+ years of service, and also was a part of J&B Roofing with his brother Jeffrie for many years, and then started his own company, Eagle Roofing.
Two things that “Papa Prisoner” will be remembered for are: his crumb-snatchers, and every child he ever came in contact with by rolling out his teeth. Bennie and Jimmy would definitely tell you that their father would always say that you should try to fix it before you just throw it away!
